THE CITY OF WATERTOWN is part of Middlesex County, Massachusetts in the Greater Boston area. It is bordered by Brighton, Belmont and Newton with the Charles River running through its southern border.
Watertown's archeological history suggests it was inhabited for thousands of years by two Native American Tribes - the Pequossette and the Nonantum along the banks of the river Charles. During the American Revolution, Watertown was headquarters for General Joseph Warren who from there, set out for the battle on Bunker Hill.
Helen Keller attended The Perkins School for the Blind, located in Watertown since 1912. The Stanley Brothers built the first steam powered cars in Watertown which came to be known as the Stanley Steamers in 1897.
Watertown houses the third largest Armenian community in the United States. The economy there is built upon major employers such as Tufts Health Plan, Perkins School for the Blind, Havard Business Publishing and Aetna Health to name a few. Being right outside of Boston, Watertown offers vast amounts of rich ethnic culture, shopping, restaurants, housing and public transportation.
